Winemakers Notes

Babich Joe's Rosé 2007

Overview:
A fresh, intensely flavoured Rosé that proves a versatile partner for many dishes or as a mid afternoon aperitif.

Grapes:
55% Pinotage, 45% Merlot

Region:
East Coast

Winemaker:
Adam Hazeldine

Recommended Food:
An ideal match for summer's outdoor meals such as bbq's (fish to burgers) and fresh salads.

Recommended Cellaring:
0-4 years

Production Notes:
The grapes were crushed and pressed at our Auckland winery after a period of skin contact. To capture the fresh, fruity flavours of the fruit fermentation took place in refrigerated stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures.

Tasting Notes:
The nose promises sweet strawberry fruit and candy. The palate is strawberry, sweet red fruits, a little plum and a touch of vanilla and raspberry. Fresh acidity is complemented by a well weighted and creamy texture with enough structure to balance the well fruited finish.

Reviews:
"Light, pretty pink. Delicate, fruit licked nose with a fragrant touch of flowers. Fruit ripe on impact with a lush feel and some hints of vinosity in the background. Light, dry, mouthfilling and fresh through the mid palate, with a nice fruity splash at the finish. Tidy, clean, fruit filled wine with a dry edge."
